I'm not familiar with what superkaramba does, but for system resource monitoring, I just use the GNOME system monitoring applet - right click on the panel and select "Add to panel" and pick the applet from the list. You can configure it to show a few different things - CPU utilization, memory usage, network, swap, disk, and load.
