After that you can install source packages and their dependencies with

zypper si <package name>

e.g.

zypper si gtk2

will install the gtk2 source package, along with all dependencies needed to
build it

Thank You Anders,

I found the problem after re-adding as you suggested. It seems I had
either
carried over repos from a type when the repositories were set up differently or
done something else equally brilliant. I had:

[src-oss]
name=openSUSE-11.0-Oss-Src
baseurl=http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.0/repo/src-oss/suse/
path=/
type=yast2

I needed

[src-oss]
name=openSUSE-11.0 src-oss
baseurl=http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.0/repo/src-oss/suse/
type=rpm-md
^^^^^^^^^^^

I must get more sleep....
