All,I had the same problem. I don't know why it happens. I am using Compiz.
alt-f2 is doing nothing for me. I want it to launch a small dialog
box were I can type app names and have them run.
I fixed it like this:
Launch compiz-config
go to "general Options" page
Select "Command" tab
Under "Commands" add "krunner" (without quote marks) in the "Command lin
0" field for example
Under "Key Bindings" associate <ALT>F2 to "Run Command 0"
That's it.
