Why would creating a new partition kill the MBR?

The MBR sits in the same physical sector as the partition table. A bad
program could destroy one while writing the other. Maybe it wrote a
default MBR code.

I would hope that 11.1 isn't a 'bad program' however <g>!! Seems like the
might be some sort of a problem with the partition tool?

I doubt 11.1 is a 'bad program'. I have a system with WinXP and 11.0 on it, I
generated another partition and installed 11.1 on it, I can pick any of them
at boot time without problems. This drive also has the hidden Dell XP restore
partition and a hidden Dell Diag partition. I am sending this from 11.0 on
that system now. The drive actually has 11 partitions at this time.
