Hello Listmates and Joop,
I'm running into problems also with the same chipset. Joop, I found that I do have audio but through a headset only plugged into the jack, not the built in speakers. I'm a member of the audio group and have the same issue while booted into root. In addition to the above, the mute function doesn't work on either internal or external microphones. The external microphone gain is set to max and can't be varied. Here is my portion of the /var/log/messages.... Dec 21 11:19:44 linux-8zkt pulseaudio[4043]: alsa-util.c: Device hw:1 doesn't support 2 channels, changed to 1. Dec 21 11:19:44 linux-8zkt pulseaudio[4043]: module-alsa-source.c: Your kernel driver isbroken: it reports a volume range from 18.00 dB to 18.00 dB which makes no sense. Dec 22 04:26:30 linux-8zkt pulseaudio[3943]: alsa-util.c: Cannot find fallback mixer control "Mic". Dec 22 04:34:05 linux-8zkt pulseaudio[3897]: alsa-util.c: Cannot find fallback mixer control "Mic".
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
