I am currently using the 'radeon' driver according to /etc/X11/xorg.conf. What package(s) must be installed in order to use 3D effects (fglrx or something like that, I believe)? I didn't see anything with my currently enabled repos.
Thanks.
You can get the fglrx driver from here http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/linux/linux-radeon.html but I don't know if it will build under 11.1. I know there was a bug in their last release that keep it from building under 11.0, I just give it a try and post back if it builds and how well it works.
Someone in the forum has reported success here - http://forums.opensuse.org/hardware/402496-ati-opensuse-11-1-eureka.html
Odd about "aticonfig --initial" as that was something generally done before.
Thanks, I'll give it a read. Not to bash openSUSE, but all the other major distros I've installed and tried recently (Fedora 10, Ubuntu 8.10/Mint 6) get this working with no problems. I'm not sure why with XGL and ATIl repos enabled, this is such an arduous, manual process :-( -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
