Upgraded my x86_64 system from 10.3 to 11.0. Things *generally* seem to work well, though I had to reinstall several packages post-installation. One of the bigger issues I'm seeing at the moment is gnome-volume-control refuses to start. If I start from a terminal window, I get the following error: --- snip -- (gnome-volume-control:20749): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_param_spec_internal: assertion `(name[0] >= 'A' && name[0] <= 'Z') || (name[0] >= 'a' && name[0] <= 'z')' failed ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file: /usr/lib64/gstreamer-0.10/libgstladspa.so Please either: - remove it and restart. - run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug. Error re-scanning registry , child terminated by signal Run 'gnome-volume-control --help' to see a full list of available command line options. --- snip --- If I run with log level 5 (ie, with --gst-debug-level=5), I see that the library is loading (after a reinstall of gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad) and it loads a bunch of LADSPA ports before it dies. I've tried reinstalling all of the ladspa and pulseaudio RPMs on the system and that hasn't corrected the issue - it looks like the problem is likely configuratin related, but I'm not sure where to look. Anyone have any ideas about how to fix this? Next step is going to be to wipe the root partition and reinstall, as well as wiping out all the GNOME prefs in my home directory. I'd rather not take that drastic step if I can avoid it - but I don't have this issue on either of my x86 systems, just the 64-bit system.
