Dear List,
I have a filesystem mount problems with a portable usb drive / mp3 player called "creative muvo^2".
sampsa@linux-ty84:~> ls /mnt/muvo2/ ls: cannot access /mnt/muvo2/PLAYLIST: Input/output error PLAYLIST RECORDINGS
After this, the filesystem becomes read-only:
sampsa@linux-ty84:~> mkdir /mnt/muvo2/RECORDINGS/omatesti mkdir: cannot create directory `/mnt/muvo2/RECORDINGS/omatesti': Read-only file system
From dmesg I find the following:
FAT: Filesystem panic (dev sdb) fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 0) File system has been set read-only
Sorry for the empty off list reply... I think this unit needs a reformat rather than trying to solve the problem with a remount. Your file system seems to have an internal inconsistancy in the cluster chain, (the chain of custers composing a given file). My recommendation would be to copy off a much of the data as you can an reformat the device. -- ----------JSA--------- Someone stole my tag line, so now I have this rental. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
