it seems with the latest KDE updates that a "ton" of user setting are written over on update as of late.
I played a bit with that stuff, nothing changed, and I also noticed that on my desktop the settings were exactly the same (So in Transcluency and Effect nothing is turned on) but the shadows werel there.
It's kinda bad I can't get them running on my laptop, because they look so fancy with the reflection turned on.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Sergey, Something is funky with suse and kde right now. For instance I have had many of my kde setting disappear, konqueror doesn't display man pages correctly anymore (if there is a normal and a posix page, clicking on the link konqueror now asks if I want to download?), window size has gone bonkers, and now sound has died! (I think it is a conspiracy by KDE4 clan to screwup KDE3) Seriously though, the only thing I can suggest is to add the KDE repositories and try to update the kde packages with: "yast->software management->package->all packages->update if a newer version is available" (de-select or mark as taboo anything you don't want to update) You can accomplish the same thing with "zypper up -t package", but you don't have as much control over what is updated. Here is a screenshot with shadows on my desktop - at least they still work... http://www.3111skyline.com/download/screenshots/kde/kde-shadow.jpg -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E.
