Listmates, Just a heads up. For those who have updated samba to 3.2.x, you may encounter significant troubles printing to printers attached to an openSuSE server either using cups or \\smb\print. Curiously vista seems unaffected and prints fine. What happens on XP is basically the print job is "stuck" somewhere until every timer on XP times out, and after you receive the dreaded "application not responding" message, then mysteriously, the job gets sent and prints. I have high suspicion that this is a samba 3.2.x issue as printing had been working flawlessly from XP through 3.0.28a. It could be a bad XP update or, more likely with all the activity in moving to 3.2.x samba may have suffered a regression in printing from XP. Either way, be on the lookout.
