Listmates, I use vncviewer frequently over the lan for various things that require a graphical interface and since the release of 10.3 and in 11.0 I am experiencing a few problems: (1) vncviewer doesn't exit cleanly after "end current session" and "exit" in the x-term requiring a manual "vncserver -kill :1" and restart before the next session; and (2) when started there are (two) x-term windows open on the vncdesktop. The server is started with "vncserver -geometry 1280x800 -depth 16 :1" Prior to the last 2 releases, typing "exit" in the x-term after "end current session" would close the vnc session and window. Now after "exit" I am simply left with a black window that remains until I either kill it locally or ssh into the remote machine and execute "vncserver -kill :1" The vnc environment is: 20:46 nirvana~> cat .vnc/xstartup #!/bin/sh xrdb $HOME/.Xresources xsetroot -solid grey xterm -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" & #twm & startkde & #startxfce4 & The only message in ~/.vnc/nirvana:1.log is: Xlib: extension "DPMS" missing on display ":1.0". I don't think that is responsible for the session hang. Could be? Is anyone else experiencing this behavior? Anybody have a fix? Thanks in advance. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E.
