Argh. Taupter (upstream video device support developer) had a run-in with mxhaard (spca5xx author) about several stupid things in his drivers and basically refuses to work around its braindeadedness anymore. "if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all" I have tried reading a little more about the webcams and their drivers. I visited these two http://www.quickcamteam.net/hcl/linux/ http://www.quickcamteam.net/hcl/linux/logitech-webcams an I think I understand. Am I correct in thinking that if my camera is on

1. in the KDE4 version that doesn't work, the Video Device Configuration selection "standard" is blank while in the KDE3 version it is PAL-M
I don't think that field is actually used. OK
a picture. Regarding audio: There's not a lot I can do to help - adding audio support to MSN is a big job, so unless a motivated individual picks it up it will continue to be a TODO. That's a real bummer. Without that I will probably not be able to use it. It wouldn't be much fun without sound. So far it looks like Skype is the only one I can find that seems to work well for video and sound in Linux and doesn't make me have to deal with port forwarding.
If the spca driver is a problem then would I be correct in thinking that I should look for a camera that is supported by some other driver such as the uvc? Damon Register -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
