PAE *is* now the "default" kernel for PAE enabled processor. It takes advantages of processor properties not availaboe in the "real" ?default? kernel. It is to your *advantage* to use it.
Not if it causes lock ups, as it seems to have on my ThinkPad.
???
After installing OpenSUSE 11, my ThinkPad R31 would lock up frequently. Replacing the PAE kernel with the standard one cleared that problem. That computer has a 1.133 GHz PIII and 768 MB of memory.
Did you open a bug for this? When does it lock up?
Ciao, Marcus
No, I didn`t file a bug and hadn`t noticed a pattern as to when it failed. However, I haven`t experienced a lock up since I switched kernels. -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
