Hi, I installed 5 mandatory updates today what required a restart. After the restart the following message was displayed: Beim Starten des GNOME-Einstellungsdämons ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Möglicherweise funktionieren einige Dinge, wie z.B. Themen, Klänge oder Hintergrundeinstellungen nicht korrekt. Die letzte Fehlermeldung war: The name org.gnome.SettingsDaemon was not provided by any .service files Beim nächsten Anmelden wird GNOME weiterhin versuchen, den Einstellungsdämon neu zu starten. The only thread with the same message in english for openSUSE what I found in the Internet is the following: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-bugs/2007-05/msg01270.html There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon. Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly. The last error message was: The name org.gnome.SettingsDaemon was not provided by any .service files GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in. Unfortunately, this thread contains no solution. But a Mandriva thread contains the same message and the proposal worked: http://www.mandrivauser.de/viewtopic.php?id=19704 But, the proposal was to do an "urpmi task-gnome". As far as I know openSUSE has no urpmi. Is there a similar possibility to update GNOME in openSUSE? I saw that I have some packages what were updated in the mean time and I want to go sure to not to forget one. At the moment I am not aware of a tool what makes an update for the complete GNOME installation. I made an online update for all displayed packages but this didn't help. Is there perhaps another solution for this problem? Unfortunately the message doesn't tell the user the name and the path of the GNOME Settings Daemon so that it is not possible to look for that daemon without digging deeper. Please help.
