The suggested NIC should also be ready for OpenSUSE 11. Most WiFi cards did not work immediately in the past with new OpenSUSE releases.
I'm using an Airlink101 Model ASLL3055 which has the 10 dbi antenna. It's USB and uses the zd1211 drivers and firmware which are freely available. I've used it on WEP and WPA without a problem. Once setup via Yast it hooks up using wifimanager. Obviously without the firmware it wont "just work," but once the firmware is in /var/lib/firmware, it does. We've been using it for the past year or so traveling around the country. Occasionally something will kick us off the net and we'll have to do a rcnetwork restart but mostly it just works.
