Hi, I just installed the x11-video-nvidiaG01 driver on a clean 10.3 machine on my new Vostro 1700. It updated the kernel to kernel-bigsmp-2.6.22.17-0.1. Video works great. Now my power management, sound and networking is broken? How can I fix this - or should I just revert back to original kernel and compile the driver myself ?(thats usually what I do)
Manne.
Simply reinstall the proper nvidia driver for the bigsmp kernel. i.e. either: ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/10.3/i586/nvidia-gfx-kmp-bigsmp-96.43.05_2.6.22.17_0.1-1.1.i586.rpm ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/10.3/i586/x11-video-nvidia-96.43.05-2.1.i586.rpm or ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/10.3/i586/nvidia-gfxG01-kmp-bigsmp-169.12_2.6.22.17_0.1-0.1.i586.rpm ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/10.3/i586/x11-video-nvidiaG01-169.12-0.1.i586.rpm They are both available trough Yast or zypper with the nvidia repository added to your system. That should cure the problem. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E.
