Hi all,
SuSE 10.3 is not using the full screen of Acer AL1516W monitor. It looks fine during the boot (i.e. the boot splash spread the entire sceern) but from the login screen onwards only virtical middle region of the screen is used, leaving a band of black unused screen on each side. The recomended resolution of my screen is 1280X800@60Hz. I was unable to find my model in the list of monitor manufacturer under Acer -- so I am using VESA.
How can I get to use the entire screen? Please help.
Bikram
This is almost always related to the video chipset. So first find out what video chip is in your machine and start from there. Google is your friend in this.
There seems to be a lot of this problem going around lately.
I had a similar problem with my LG Flatron. After installing the video drivers for my NVIDIA 8600GT it cured the problem. Seems like the video chipset detection is still a little flaky (hint development team). If you can identify the chipset you should be able to get a driver from the makers website and installing that should solve your problems. -- ----------JSA--------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org ----------------------------------------- Engen Petroleum Limited, disclaims liability for any loss, damage or expense however caused, arising from the sending, receipt, or use of this e-mail and on any reliance placed upon the information provided through this service and does not guarantee the completeness or accuracy of the information.
