Hi everyone
After i reinstalled my os the other day, i've noticed there is no sound now. It did work fine prior to this. I only noticed it because i had the bell sound enabled on the konsole but could not hear it.
I've checked to make sure it wasn't something silly like being on mute, but that is not the case.
I'm not sure if this tells much, but 'dmesg | grep sound' shows:
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_codec.c:2333: autoconfig: line_outs=1 (0xf/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_codec.c:2337: speaker_outs=1 (0xd/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_codec.c:2341: hp_outs=1 (0xa/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_codec.c:2349: inputs: mic=0x13, fmic=0xe, line=0x0, fline=0x0, cd=0x0, aux=0x0
ALSA sound/pci/hda/patch_sigmatel.c:1306: dac_nids=1 (0x5/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_generic.c:683: hda_generic: no proper input path found
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_generic.c:430: hda_generic: no proper output path found
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_generic.c:1001: hda_generic: no PCM found
Which suggests to me (correct me if i'm wrong) that there might be a problem.
i've had a look in yast->hardward->sound, and the sound card is showing there as:
82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller
Configured as sound card number 0
Driver snd-hda-intel
I don't know if there is any more information you need, please let me know. I wasn't comfortable making any changes without getting some advice from you guys first.
I'm using Dell xps laptop, opensuse 10.3 (KDE 3.5).
Hoping it's something simple, and would really appreciate some help.
TIA
Jamie
