I just found out that Blackberry uses a proprietary OS that has nothing to do with Microsoft, so I am removing the heretic question. Since Blackberry has software to transfer data from Palm to Blackberry, the only question I have is syncing the Blackberry on Linux. Apparently their are a couple of OpenSource projects, such as Barry and OpenSync. I'm just curious if anyone on this list has been syncing on Linux.
Try Funambol www.funambol.org
Funambol is the most reliable choice with a few codicils... 1) The Thunderbird Funambol plugin is currently broken (at least for me on both Windows and Linux). An alternative (TSync) does something but I have yet to figure out what !? 2) The current Evolution client works, but needs manual compilation and text editor configuration. 3) I do not use the KOrganiser/KMail stuff, but the sync support is not really geared up for connection to a SymcML server. 4) Funambol requires that you run both Tomcat, and a database backend. MySQL is not one of the supported databases but with a little tweaking you can use MySQL. 5) Calendaring is a bit weak. 6) Not very easy to setup. and one possible useful bonus... Funambol can be configured to do push mail, i.e. send mail to your phone. It is probably more OMA standards complaint than the alternative below. An alternative is eGroupware, however I think elements of the synchronisation need more work, it seems to be good with calendars but not very useful with contacts (tends to duplicate entries). There is a version with GroupDAV support which you could use with the SoGO connectors (but I do not know whether there is a SoGO connector for the Blackberry but I would surprised if there wasnt).
