I see we have another kernel update, great job getting the latest security fixes out in a timely manner. :-)
BUT, I don't see an update in the Nvidia repo that corresponds to this kernel update, Does that mean that the driver is included in the kernel update? Is this an oversite or are you hoping for a flood of emails from people bitching about how the latest kernel update broke their "X" system again. This is not good for openSUSE's reputation. A little more coordination is needed here I think.
I don't speak for SGI in this forum. Opensuse uses weak module updates so it isn't necessary to upgrade the nvidia module unless there has been an abi change. If the installer complains or mentions that it will uninstall the nvidia driver then an upafte will be needed. A few kernel updates ago, not that long ago, this did happen where a new nvidia module update was posted because the abi changed. -- Sent from my wired giant hulking workstation Nate Pearlstein - npearl@sgi.com - Product Support Engineer -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
