Andreas How do you get the iwl3945 driver? I have the vanilla 10.3 system with complete updates (according to opensuse-updater), and I have the ipw3945 driver. ... ...Well, I just looked at the Intel site again, and now they say iwlwifi 1.0.0 has been "production" since 8/13/2007. So why isn't it in suse now? Or doesn't "production" mean "stable"?
I mean iwlwifi - and that's part of the default kernel. Please read the 10.3 Release Notes for details,
Well, duh. Sure enough, there it was, with the admonition that ipw3945 doesn't survive hibernation (which certainly matches my experience), and iwlwifi doesn't handle hidden connections. I switched over to iwlwifi, and I've been through two hibernations without having to reconnect manually, much less restart the whole wifi driver chain, as I frequently did with ipw3945. Since all the access points I'm interested in are announced, it's a real benefit having switched to iwlwifi. Thanks, Andreas. I really have to get back into the habit of reading through the release notes. jp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
