I've recently installed openSUSE 10.3, including 64 bit versions of Seamonkey, Firefox and Sun JRE. However, when I use either of those browsers to access a site that requires Java, it says to install the plugin. How do I get the 64 bit browsers to recognize the 64 bit JRE?
tnx jk
Blackdown made a 64 bit java WITH 64 bit java browser plugin (~3 years ago), but after just checking, I found out they are no more. Check http://www.the-love-shack.net/2007/08/30/blackdown-java-retires/ Too bad as flash and java have been a sore spot for 64 bit browser users for years, and even after all these years, Sun and Macromedia (now Adobe, as well a 64 bit Adobe Acrobat Reader I might add), or still AFAIK not in the foreseeable future. I still have the old 1.4.2 64 bit version installed (but I might have deleted the install package :-( ), and after running a 64 bit browser a few versions ago, mine still found the link and I have a 64 bit java plugin that works. But since Blackdown is no more, I cannot tell you if or where you could get it. 1.4.2 is quite old now.
The Mozilla plugin site mentions Blackdown, but the link doesn't work. Other plugins work with nspluginwrapper, but apparently not Java. -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
