I have hp compaq dc7700 with intel q965 chip -> integrated video, plus a DVI ADD2 pcix card. The trouble is that ctrl-Fn switches don't work. The first switch to one of the consoles works, but attempting to switch back to ctrl-f7 leads to a "flashing blue" screen. After that, only a reboot can do any help. ---------------------------------------------------------- Here are some command outputs that could describe the case: # uname -a Linux dc7700 2.6.18.8-0.3-default #1 SMP Tue Apr 17 08:42:35 UTC 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux # dmesg |grep agp Linux agpgart interface v0.101 (c) Dave Jones agpgart: Detected an Intel 965Q Chipset. agpgart: Unknown page table size, assuming 512KB agpgart: Detected 7676K stolen memory. agpgart: AGP aperture is 256M @ 0xe0000000 # glxinfo ... direct rendering: No ... # glxgears 5923 frames in 5.1 seconds = 1171.485 FPS 5904 frames in 5.1 seconds = 1163.954 FPS 5856 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1167.331 FPS 5856 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1170.644 FPS 5840 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1166.057 FPS ... ---------------------------------------------------------- According to sax2, I am in vesa framebuffer mode. glxgears works, giving the numbers as listed above, but with some hickups in the animation window... The gears are slow and not moving smoothly at all. I tried many things that I found by googleing, eg removing DVI ADD2 from the box, or going init 3 and calling "sax2 -c 0 -m 0=i810" etc etc... Nothing helped. Please, is there anybody on this list who can give me a suggestion what to try next?
