As so many of us, I use packman to get around the media restrictions. And packman had a newer libusb that is obviously not linked against resmgr. When I "downgraded" to the version from the DVD, lsusb worked again for the normal user. Now I'll go and address the packman folks if they can make their libusb work better in 10.0. Alternatively, I may need to learn how one blocks the update of a package in apt. ;-) Thanks again for putting me on the right track -- you made my day!
