the AIGLX thingy should go away when you add
Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "Disable" EndSection
to your xorg.conf. This of course means that you cannot use AIGLX for all the nice desktop effects everybody wants these days.
Nope, still reverts to software. Is there a specific place one needs to put the entry? At the beginning, the end, before/after the modules, screen, driver, dri sections?
Ok, crtl-alt-F10 reveal that the option kernel param "agplock" (agplock=0) throws an error. I commented out that line and re-init (from login screen with crtl-alt-backspace) and I rechecked output in crtl-alt-F10 and it doesn't complain about the error for agplock and new entries reveal it "found" the agp bus and sets to x8 (2 enteries for both outputs), as well as mem stats. However, 2 entries in the Xorg.0.log: cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep 2:0 (II) PCI: 00:02:0: chip 10de,0067 card 1458,5004 rev a4 class 0c,03,10 hdr 80 (II) PCI: 02:00:0: chip 1002,4152 card 1002,0002 rev 00 class 03,00,00 hdr 80 (II) PCI: 02:00:1: chip 1002,4172 card 1002,0003 rev 00 class 03,80,00 hdr 00 (--) PCI:*(2:0:0) ATI Technologies Inc RV350 AR [Radeon 9600] rev 0, Mem @ 0xc0000000/28, 0xe5000000/16, I/O @ 0xd000/8 (--) PCI: (2:0:1) ATI Technologies Inc RV350 AR [Radeon 9600] (Secondary) rev 0, Mem @ 0xd0000000/28, 0xe5010000/16 (II) Primary Device is: PCI 02:00:0 (WW) fglrx: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:2:0:1) found drmOpenByBusid: Searching for BusID PCI:2:0:0 (II) fglrx(0): [drm] created "fglrx" driver at busid "PCI:2:0:0" drmOpenByBusid: Searching for BusID PCI:2:0:0 drmOpenByBusid: drmGetBusid reports PCI:2:0:0 cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep AIGLX (==) AIGLX enabled (EE) AIGLX error: dlsym for __driCreateNewScreen_20050727 failed (/usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so: undefined symbol: __driCreateNewScreen_20050727) (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering. How do I turn off AIGLX, can I just remove the package containing it (rpm -e whatever, or via YaST2)? Perhaps and Option entry along the lines of "AIGLX" "disable"? TIA again! Curtis :) P.S. If your forwarding these to Heir Graeber und Heir skj01 it's getting bounced back to me as a Mail delivery failure. Ver Dunck!
