Additional problem I just detected: With LANG set to de_DE.UTF-8 (also with en_US.UTF-8) I cannot type umlauts in xterms etc.anymore. I specified an addon modmap with e.g. keycode 0x26 = a A adiaeresis Adiaeresis an use the right control key and the "a" key on an englisch keyboard to type the umlaut "ä". With the UTF-8 settings, this doesn't work anymore, I just don't get any output when hitting the right ctrl and "a".
