Looks like you have a problem with cdrecord version ???
No, no, I have a problem with k3b doing incomplete reportings of it self. It says that "since kernel 2.6.8"...? What? What happened since that kernel?
In fact, cdrecrod is "cdrecord-2.01-25".
But my big problem is not cdrecord, but growisofs. I can burn CDS, but not DVDs, they come out very badly. And the unit hasn't burn more than a dozen dvds or so. It's a year old more or less.
I went and reinstalled 9.3 in another partition, and that one also failed to burn dvds.
I don't understand it.
Carlos, My first thought, from your testings so far, would seem to indicate a faulty DVD burner. Have you checked to see if there was a new firmware update for this unit? When was the last time you were able to burn a DVD? Can you read a DVD disc from beginning to end without problems? Can you view a dual-layer DVD without problems? Have you checked your settings in K3b or tried changing any of them concerning the drive to see what effect that has? Have you tried burning from the shell, rather than K3b? I doubt it will make a difference, just a thought. Have you tried another DVD drive to test your setup? Have you checked the cable from the mobo to the drive. Any bios changes on the mobo recently that might affect the system seeing it as a dvd drive? Hopefully one of those questions will help lead you to something. What make & model drive is it? bye, Lee --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
