OK, this got it working, thanks! Could anyone explain why SuSE did such a dumb thing? They should, at least, have fixed it so that I could have set the public_html dir as default when I was installing 10.1. This was not a good idea.
Well, may have not been a *good* idea, but it apparently was not a bad idea. Your's is the second post since the release of 10.1 that I have seen where someone had a problem getting their personal web-site recognized/configured. I admit that it wasn't 'straight-forward', but that is a problem with many things in linux (consistancy), expecially from version to version. I referred to my previous working install to see what had changed and edited the new config files to match or be similar to the previous and got a working system. But this is my crutch to make up for my lack of knoweldge in many areas. Remember, for everything that you think is a good idea, there will be *many* people who disagree. I am sure that SUSE (not SuSE) had good, well thought out reasons for their 'dumb' decision. Perhaps you should have more background before you make rash judgements and statements. Tell us, did you *pay* for your SUSE version or do you just complain because what you got for free was not what you wanted. It is 'open' software; you are free to make any changes you wish. Lacking that capability, don't slap the face of the people you are depending on to provide something you wish. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
