Hi,
I am pretty new to linux. So please treat me as pretty novice, please forgive me about that.
I have installed SuSE 10.1 on Intel D915GUX mother board with Pentuim4 EM64T processor. My monitor is Samtron 15inch model 56V.
The X11 graphics is broken whenever I try to have a resolution higher than 800x600. I tried with different configuration but none did help.
I have the xorg.conf.install file as follows:
[pruned]
# Screen Section for module X support # ------------------------------------- Section "Screen" SubSection "Display" Depth 16 Modes "800x600" EndSubSection
If you look at the info you supplied, the highest resolution which could be set on the monitor with its current configuration is 800 x 600 (see above).
My monitor spec is as follows:
-------------- start paste --------------------------
*15"(13.8" Viewable) *0.24mm(H) Dot Pitch *1024x768@68 Maximum Resolution *Plug & Play *Mac & PC Compatibility
[pruned] To get it working correctly (I hope! :-) ) go to Yast Control Centre/Hardware/Graphic Card and Monitor/Monitor-<Change>. Select the VESA as the monitor type and then select (in the righthand 'menu') 1024x768@68 . Exit and you will be asked to TEST this new configuration - do the test and if all works OK, save the new configuration. (Do not fiddle with the vertical and horizontal frequencies - just select 1024x768@68 and leave all else alone.)
