That service is for Mozilla.org builds. When you choose to use any Linux distro's RPM, you choose to get updates from your distro repository in the usual update manner.
Perhaps, but I installed Firefox 1.5 on top of a pre-existing 1.0 version on a Mandriva box and it allows me to update 1.5 if I run the bin as root.
