About my experience with Windows Vista BETA2 x86 32-bit : Tested with Aero Glass Interface turned on. Yep - protecting Admin is stupid - it must have full previledge. The OS speed is very dependent on your PC - it takes a LOT of horse power. I got AMD 1.6 GHz 1 GB RAM and GeForce 5200 with 128 MB- and it works slow. It takes 850 MB of RAM *without* any big apps - just explorer, task manager, and control center -- with bare OS. So having 2 GB is real minimum for good work. My CPU is OK - about 10-40% loaded with bare OS. But graphics -- it's slow - the windows draggin is slow - multimedia player stucks once every 5 seconds for half a second - playeable but gives bad experience - installing latest nvidia drivers for vista didn't helped. GF5900 is 3 times more powerful than my card and should be OK. My recommendations would be something like AMD Athlon (XP or 64) 1.8 GHz, 2GB RAM, nVidia Geforce 5900 256 MB. My system works with Windows XP & SUSE Linux 10.0 *perfectly* -- no slowdowns.
With only 7-8 months to go, I'm quite certain that Vista is gonna end up worse than Windoze Millenium, which was a big flop.
currently it's byggy - but it's almost OK. I will use it at least for some puposes.
