I updated and installed all the software I wanted, manually, using YaST's "Software Management" module. I then reinstalled the above list of packages and reenabled the automatic updating function. From your main KDE menu, highlight "System" then "Configuration" then "Update Software". The applet will load in your taskbar. Right-click on it and select 'configure'... let it refresh (takes a long time) then explore the updater configuration until you find the 'launch automatically' checkbox. That's it! Carl
