This brings up a question, however (sorry to steal the thread).
When I clicked the link, Amarok opened up and played the file. I don't mind Amarok, but I figure there's some system-based player that can do it without needing a UI. Is this not the case?
'apropos mp3' showed 'lame'. But one can play *.au files with 'cat f.au > /dev/audio' (mime-type: audio/basic). If there is a utility that can convert a sound-file to *.au files, then it would be simple... Cheers, Leen
