One reason I use a number of different profiles is that I have found that
when connecting to a wireless, both eth0 and wlan0 (or eth1) come up and
the default route in the routing table is usually missing.
it is very easy to fix:
ifdown eth0
ifdown wlan0
ifup wlan0
or use route add ...
Or use Network manager
In any case, very simple, but...
I can set up my profiles so the system is configured, and the profile
manager icon sits on the task bar.
