Hello people
On a customers desktop PC with Suse 9.0 the power supply unit was broken and had to be replaced a week ago. The battery on the mother board was replaced, too. The computer is stand-alone (not connected to the internet).
Now the clock in the kde taskbar (and also the time and date delivered to MySQL etc.) shows may 2008 - the clock hurried ahaid more than 2 years in just a few days. What happened?
After the first boot date/time shown by the kde-clock obviously was January 1st, 2002. This was on March 13. On March 20 only this was realized, the watch showed January 8, 2002 - so untill then the clock seemed to run normal.
I then adjusted date and time with click right on the watch in the kde task bar, ("set date and time") to March 20, 2006. Today it shows May 27, 2008...
As the PC is in the office of my customer I don't have much information, and I have no idea what to look for. I installed Suse 9.0 that time (~2 or 3 yrs ago) and run YOU once before I delivered the PC, so I don't know exactly what kernel release etc. is installed there. If you need any infos to help me, can you please tell me what I should look for and what's important to know? I'll go there and post the rusults here if necessary...
b.t.w.: where the PC stands it's not possible to connect to the internet, so I can't use ntpdate or something like that and have to do it manually somehow... but how?
Thanks for any hints.

This seems to be a common problem with some installations including my Acer laptop with 9.3. You can find references to it in the archives and no one has ever presented an adequate explanation or solution.
