Thanks for the tip. But it didn't work that way for me. Evolution's just been too crash-prone. I'm going to give Korganizer a try for awhile.
KOrganizer rox. Just make sure you start the alarm daemon at boot so you get the alarms. ....
How do you do that? And do you mean that it should start at runlevel 5...? Or before that sometime?
With KOrganizer running, you should get a little calendar-like thingy (sorry for the bad description) in the system tray. Right-click on it and select Alarms Enabled and Start Alarm Daemon at Logon.
