Re-reading your earlier post, Felix, I see you're concerned that reverting to a previous kernel puts the rpm database out of sync with the installed system. I don't know why you'd rule out using CLI rpm tools (the --force and --justdb options will solve this problem) but running the system in that state until you've sorted the newer kernel problem(s) out seems a minor inconvenience -- particularly when it is so readily resolved.
It's more readily resolved by leaving it installed, including in menu.lst, in the first place, which is what Mandriva's URPMI does by default. I would expect no less from YOU, but it apparently disappoints in this regard.
Is this your way of suggesting a new 'rollback' feature?... one comparable to the one offered in Mandriva?
I know how to use Bugzilla if it becomes appropriate, but that it is not for discovering functional existing features, which is what my OP asked about. If the answers I've seen already are any indication, I will be needing to find or file such a bug as my OP asks about. -- "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." Psalm 33:12 NIV
