Yes, that is possible but not as easy to use and it needs heavy changes in the source code of every program that should use it.
Oh...ug. How painful. It's just my seeing old programs gain new dependencies that pull in new libraries of code make me uneasy. From a security standpoint, I'm not comfortable loading lots of programs and libraries that I don't use -- provides for a great many more holes.

Maybe not used widely by applications, but it seems to be used often in microsoft libraries. Running a program under DEPENDS.EXE shows delayed-use libraries being used by most programs that use the Microsoft libraries. Given it requires source changes in all the programs though: ug, ug ug! :-/ Thanks for the info. -linda
