I never had any success with ANY gaim rpm - some of the weirdest error messages... Now I just compile from source. It's really not that difficult, .configure, make, make install generally does it.
And you wonder why you have a problem with rpm's???? Your 'make install' does not update the rpmdb. rpm does not know what and where things are located/installed.
Patrick, please try not to comment on things you don't understand. The idea behind using rpms is that installing things like this: rpm -Uvh gaim-1.5.0 is supposed to install the application, not produce error messages about things that were installed with the distro being missing. Tell me how whatever you're moaning about would solve that? On second thought, don't bother. What I do now works fine, and what you suggest didn't. Mike- -- Mornings: Evolution in action.
