Dear SUSE users:
I want to buy a new graphics card and have difficulties which one to buy, ATI or NVIDIA based card.
I have both brands. NVIDIA seems to get the edge for OpenGL and hence Linux, while RADEON works faster with DirectX. The RADEON drivers, however, seem to optimize the OpenGL display lists better in my opinion, giving a "smoother" rendering of large, 3D objects, say, in a CAD environment. But the optimization causes the driver to be a little sluggish whenever you are changing the graphics scene and need to update the display lists. If you (or anyone else) wants to email me privately, I can send a chart with my performance observations for 3D rendering of models with hundreds of thousands of facets.
