trouble configuring for web access

Hello all, I'm new to SUSE (used Mandrake to date), I've downloaded and installed 10.0 and really like what I've seen so far, but I'm having trouble setting up the network. I have set up a static IP 192.168.181.69 and set the default router address to 192.168.181.254, which is correct for our ADSL modem/router. I can ping any address on our network, and by entering the router address in a browser I can logon to it's administrative interface, but I cannot browse any pages. Any help appreciated, thanks, Aidan.
