Hi:
Yesterday I downloaded and installed ymessenger rpm for RH9. This morning, KDE won't start. I get the following message:
I810(0): Failed to set up write-combining range (0xe8000000,0x8000000)
*Hello from Adam Looks like you have the chipset coming up funny. Why don't you go in failsafe mode and rerun SaX2 with Yast? There is some sort of problem with a setting with the i810 chipset. If you are able to use KDE in failsafe mode, then KDE is still working. ymesenger is not your problem. You just got a gremlin in Linux, and Linux has gremlins. What can you do for the moment? You can reset the BIOS settings and maybe you can get that error to disappear. You can reset your video settings although that address is used for something else. If you are using a desktop, actually power down the desktop and then unplug the box for a few moments. The motherboard is still being fed power for a reset. Let the box sit without the power plug for a few, get a cup of some and take a drink, and then replug and reboot. Adam *
What I can do is start X in Failsafe mode from the graphical login menu, and then from a xterm run "startkde".
I have already uninstalled ymessenger, and deleted the .ymessenger directory, ran sax2, etc. but I can't get it to work. Any suggestions?
Thank you.
