You might want to rephrase the question, since most installs are either from CD/DVD or from ftp. How are you going about installation from a HDD? I am confused.
You just point your installer to where your sources are - harddisk, network, CD, ftp etc. I always install from harddisk over NFS.

Can you clarify that? I have a machine with no CD/DVD. (It does have a floppy). (No free drive bays.) I have YOU setup to download from a SuSE FTP mirror. It is still running SuSE 9.2 simply because I don't know of an easy way to upgrade it and for now it is not a major issue for me. (I know I can boot to floppy, then point to the FTP server. I've dont that befreo, but I'm lazy and am looking for an easier solution. I also assume I could buy a USB CD/DVD and boot the normal CDs from there.)
