on Tue, 19 Jul 2005 23:38:16 +0100 Hello list, something wierd is affecting my Desktop. Files I save to it aren't displayed there, ie I see no icons. They are listed fine in the shell or for example gwenview. At first they are not visible in a konqueror window either, but after being accessed by gwenview you can see them in a konqueror window but still not on the desktop. (They are not visible on the second desktop either.)
Does anyone of you have a clue what has happened to it?
cheers, Mikael

Mikael, I have the same problems using SuSE 9.2.
If your right click on the desktop, then click on create/new folder, then click "OK," you'll get a folder on your desktop called "new folder." You can delete that.
Look on the desktop and you'll also see the new stuff that didn't appear previously.
This drives me crazy, but it seems to be something that's a "bug" in 9.2. Was not that way in 9.1, and I don't know if it occurs in 9.3.
Also, when icons don't show up in the Konqueror window click on the refresh button on the top button bar. Your "missing" icons will suddenly appear.
Let us know if this works for you. Gil
Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I was quite confused by it. To continue the questions then. Is it possible to patch up a 9.2 suse to a 9.3 version without downloading the whole DVD? Can that be done in the way of creating a patch CD someone else mentioned earlier? Or is there an easier way? Mikael (still crawling, maybe the first steps will come soon)
