Since one printer is working correctly and the other isn't, and since they are very similar printers, you should check the setup of the printer. For example, on my HP4000 printer I notice a setting that says: "append CR to LF? yes/no" I have it set to NO because I am using CUPS and cups uses a driver setup that is taking care of the problem. You didn't mention anything about what you are running, but I would guess based on what little you did tell us that you are running LPRng and on an older version of SuSE (if at all). So you either need to add a filter to your setup or change your printer settings. Whatever will do the job.
