I am trying to use my DVD drive for backups. Writing to DVD+RW disks with k3b works fine. Trying to do this a second time fails with input/output error. Trying with growisofs gives the following error message:
/dev/hdd: "Current Write Speed" is 4.1x1385KBps.
:-[ WRITE@LBA=0h failed with SK=5h/ASC=22h/ACQ=00h]: Input/output : error -( write failed: Input/output error
Is this possible? Should I be using a different media type like DVD-RW? Is this a bug in k3b or growisofs?
I routinely overwrite DVD+RW media using k3b with no problems.
When you report a problem like this, you should supply more information:
- SuSE Linux release - Kernel version - K3b version
I have had similar problems trying to use DAR for backups. If I use a fresh DVD+RW things go fine. But trying to re-use them (even with a format) almost always gives me an error. So I've given up using DVD's for backup.
9.2 latest 9.2 kernel no k3b, just growisofs
