Check your $mydomain setting. Either leave it empty or set it to the domain name, your are really using (case-insensitive).
Thanks once again - Richard

2) /etc/amavisd.conf (comments removed):
use strict;
# # Section I - Essential daemon and MTA settings # $MYHOME = '/var/spool/amavis'; $mydomain = 'Acme.com'; ^^^^^^^^^^
Is that your local domain name?
Carsten, Thank you. Your post made me read the doc further and look a little more closely. Yes, setting mydomain is extremely critical - especially when you user's email address domain is slightly different than the domain name fo the mail host. Let me explain. 1) No, for my (possibly false) sense of security I changed all xxxx in my domain name to Acme, before posting my configuration and log messages. I mentioned this in my earlier posts, but its been snipped away. Sorry. 2) All of our email addresses go to user@acme.com. Host name mai.acme.com points at this server, but the servers actual domain name is gofish.acmesoftware.com. This is another domain variant we have. 3) Once I changed the mydomain setting to: $mydomain = 'AcmeSoftware.com'; which is what all of the mail gets disposed of, regardless that it is addressed to user@acme.com, we started getting the SPAM headers and subject line rewrite. Thanks to all once again for your help and efforts. - Richard ( a now happy SLES 9, amavis-new, Spam Assassin and ClamD user).
