I am running a SuSE 9.2pro based server with a Diamond Multimedia Supra Express 56i pro modem card fitted, which I wish to use to send outgoing faxes. SAMBA is running on this server but, as yet, CUPS is not (that's another story :-( )
Firstly, my SuSE installation does not recognise this card - how can I correct this?
Secondly, any attempts in YAST to configure this card seem to lead me down the route of configuring my ISP, which is totally irrelevant to a FAX card and is handled by other parts of my system anyway.
Ultimately, I wish to send (and centrally log) faxes from all of my workstations, an assortment of SuSE 9.2 and M$ XP, using pre-configured header pages available to both operating systems.
How can I achieve this goal?
First thing to do is to determine whether you have a 'real' modem card or whether it is a 'winmodem' (which is partly implemented in software and requires a Windows driver) Some winmodems are supported in Linux but it's usually a tough road to follow to get them to work. Once you have a working modem, the rest is pretty easy.
