OK, you tried to make your own package, which failed. But Firebird has readymade packages. That's what I asked : why don't you try these ? I used them on a 9.0 and 9.1 box. As far as I know they run fine. I have to say that I'm not using them heavily, they are (for the moment) for learning (like PHP). I still use Interbase 6.0 on Win.
