Hello all,
I've tried this on two 9.3 installs. Setting up apcupsd with a ups cable, I get the following error.
------- apcupsd FATAL ERROR in dumbsetup.c at ine 86 Cannot open UPS port /dev/usb/hiddev[0-15]: No such file or directory apcupsd error shutdown completed -------
This device worked under 9.1 on the same computer.
I read from a post a few days ago that usb has changed under 9.3, but don't know what to set the dev to. The apcupsd.conf for 9.3 says to use the above dev for ups cable. There are /dev/usb/hiddev 0-15 on my system.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you changed nothing but the version of linux, you may (just guessing) need to change the device to /dev/ttyUSBx from the HID device.
USB support has not been compiled in for a few versions. It was in 8.2, but not 9.2 (which is what I am running now).
I recall there may be a version with USB support somewhere in the people tree on ftp.suse.com, but I do not have the exact location, or know for sure if it still exists.
Hmmm. I don't recall doing anything particular to use apcupsd with a usb link on 9.1 or 9.2, other than the usual "WHAT port is it connected to?", and compiling apcupsd from source to include usb support. Got 5 of them on assorted 9.1 and 9.2 systems now. Except that I use the advice I just gave you - not the HID ports. <shrug> Mike- -- Mornings: Evolution in action.
